Today was children's day. It's the last holiday of golden week. Ben and I each got a 4 day weekend, last weekend we had a 3 day weekend. It's been a lot of fun.
Ben and I didn't realize how much would shut down for golden week. The banks have been close since Wednesday, and despite the fact that we do have money in our accounts, we cannot access it. Debit cards and credit cards are accepted nowhere in Japan. Ben and I have no money on us, and our fridge and pantry are completely out of food. We're really hoping the ATM's will be open on Sunday... but we're pretty sure they are not.
Word to the wise! ATM's are not open on holidays. Debit cards do not work!
Our picnic lunch... We still had eggs |
Ben and I did figure out plenty of fun free things to do on our long weekend. On thursday, we vegged. Yesterday we splashed around in puddles, and went on a walk. Today we went hiking.
Overall our golden week has been pretty great... but we might get hungry pretty soon.
The shrine near our house turned into a fountain! |
